People still use Yelp or Angies list to help find and read reviews for air conditioning companies but beware companies will pay to alter reviews on these websites. If your air conditioner is broken most contractors do charge a diagnostic fee, which is normal because the cost to get to your home is money. I have worked in the HVAC industry for over 25 years and have seen the good and the really bad. Tip #1 calling the air conditioning company and ask them how much do you charge to replace a capacitor in the condensing unit even though this is probably not the problem but you can base the prices each air conditioning company charges. The company should be able to quote you over the phone the price and I can its $85.00 for parts and labor. If they ask you what size the capacitor is who cares they all run the same price and hang up. If you go with a big air conditioning company you will most likely see high prices because they do have a lot of overhead and you will have to pay more. Yelp has a great way to filter out your bad reviews so they don’t show up so I would just stop using Yelp if you want honesty in the reviews. People you have to remember that company profiles on BBB, Yelp, Angies list, and other websites the company pays for their advertisement and care more about money than the customers.
